The Icefields Parkway, from Jasper to Lake Louis

Luggage bags were in our room last night; they had arrived earlier, by road!
Passengers were transferred to different hotels and motels, depending on whether you were Gold Leaf or Red Leaf etc.

A quick early brekky (not included for us Red Leaf passengers) and onto coach to Lake Louis.
Trip is over the Icefields Parkway, a short distance of about 230 km.
It goes through from Jasper National Park where we were, into and through Banff National Park.
Reputed to be one of the most scenic roadtrips in the world.  It truly is.

Best map I could find (above) is from the Canada Parks' Icefields Parkway webpage. It's a poor jpg save of a pdf file so it's best to view or download the original.
The website gives you all information about the route and how to prepare for a pleasant trip along it.
Another very informative site is this interactive link.
The National Geographic has documented the Icefields Parkway as one of the Drives of a Lifetime. The link however describes the drive in the reverse direction ie from Banff to Jasper.

Pic above was taken through the driver's windscreen. Lucky feller had the best view.
As in the US, Canadians drive on the wrong side of the road to us, ie not on the left side.

Took a number of very nice photos, ahem, so just enjoy them. Click to enlarge to see the views in full glory.P1150205
